7 Simple Habits to Take Clear and Sharp Photos on Any Phone

Last week, a friend asked me, “Brother, how do the pictures on your phone look so clear? My phone is expensive, yet the pictures look quite blurry.” I smiled and said, “It is not an expensive phone. A few small habits make the real difference.” Today, I am sharing those habits.

1. Clean the Lens

It may sound funny, but it is true—while your phone stays in your pocket, fingerprints and dust build up on the lens, making pictures blurry. I have tried this myself, and just wiping it once with the corner of my shirt makes the pictures sharper.

2. Turn on the Grid

When you turn on Grid lines in the camera settings, lines dividing the screen into 9 boxes appear. Instead of placing the main subject right in the center, keep it near the grid lines. The picture will immediately look much more organized.

3. Tap to Focus

What the camera focuses on automatically is not always right. Tap once on the person you are photographing—the focus and lighting will both be set on them.

4. Move Closer Instead of Zooming

Digital zoom actually crops and enlarges the picture, reducing its quality. If you take two steps closer and take the picture, it will have much more detail.

5. Check the Direction of the Light

Make sure the light falls on your subject's face, not on your camera. If the sun or light is behind the subject, the picture will be dark, and lens flare may appear.

6. Avoid Flash as Much as Possible

Your phone's flash makes pictures look somewhat white and unnatural. Instead, look for a place where there is a little light.

7. Keep Your Hand Steady and Edit Lightly

When pressing the shutter button, keep your elbows close to your body, and if needed, lean your phone against a wall. After taking the picture, use Snapseed or your phone's own editor to adjust just a little brightness and contrast—too many filters make the picture look fake.

Conclusion

Try following these seven habits for one week, and you will see the difference yourself. Taking good pictures is not magic; it is a matter of a little patience and attention.
