Gift Card Says "Not Available in Your Region"? Fixes for Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Apple, and More (Bangladesh)
AroraShop Editorial & Fulfillment Team
Digital Gaming & FinTech Specialists (Dhaka, BD) • UpdatedA region or currency error usually means the card was made for a different country than the one your account is set to. Most USA gift cards only work on accounts set to the USA, or on accounts whose store shows US dollars. Before you redeem, check your account's country or currency. If they don't match, stop and contact the seller. Trying the code again and again won't help.
Each store checks this in its own way. Here is what to look for on each one.
Why this error happens
Game stores sell the same game at different prices in each country. So each gift card is tied to one country or currency. Your account is too. The code only works when the two match.
Many people think it depends on where they live. It doesn't. Stores look at the country set on your account. A Bangladeshi player with a US Steam account can use a US Steam card. A player whose account is set to Bangladesh or another country usually can't.
Where to check, platform by platform
| Platform | What must match | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | Store country and wallet currency | Account details page on Steam |
| PlayStation | Account region (set when the account was made) | Prices in the PlayStation Store |
| Xbox / Microsoft | Microsoft account country | Your info, then Country or region |
| Apple | Apple Account country | Account settings in the App Store |
| Google Play | Google Play country | Play Store settings, under country and profiles |
| Battle.net | Currency shown in the Battle.net Shop | Any price in the Shop |
| Epic Games | Account balance currency | Your Epic account balance |
| Amazon | The Amazon site (Amazon.com only) | The site you're signed in to |
Platform notes
Steam
The card's currency has to match your Steam wallet currency. Check your store country on the account details page before you redeem. AroraShop sells both US and Hong Kong Steam cards, so pick the one that matches your wallet. Our Steam US vs Hong Kong guide explains how to tell. If a code still fails, read the Steam code not working guide.
PlayStation
Your PlayStation region is set when you make the account. A USA card only works on a US account. If the store shows prices in US dollars, you're on a US account. More in our PlayStation redeem guide.
Xbox
If you change your country, your old balance stays behind. Some items may stop working too. So don't change it just to use one card. See the Xbox gift card guide.
Apple
Apple says its gift cards can't be redeemed outside the country or region where they were bought. A USA card needs a US Apple Account. The Apple USA vs Turkey guide covers which one to choose.
Google Play
Google Play cards are tied to a country. You can only change your Play country once every 12 months. AroraShop's own page warns that US Google Play cards can't be used from Bangladesh, with no refund if the card fails. Read that note before you buy.
Battle.net and Epic Games
Both check currency. Your Battle.net Shop or Epic balance needs to be in US dollars for a USA card. See the Blizzard and Fortnite guides.
Amazon
Amazon.com gift cards only work on Amazon.com, not on Amazon India or other Amazon sites. See our Amazon gift card guide.
What not to do
- Don't use a VPN to force the code through. Store rules don't allow it, and it can put your account at risk.
- Don't change your account country on a whim. Some stores limit how often you can do it. Your old balance may stay behind.
- Don't make a new account just for one card unless you understand you'll be starting that account from zero.
- Don't keep retrying. If the first attempt gives a region error, the next ten will too.
Already bought the wrong card? What to do
- Stop trying to redeem it. An unused code is easier to sort out.
- Take a screenshot of the error message.
- Contact AroraShop support with your order number and the screenshot.
- Tell them which country or currency your account is set to.
AroraShop gives no refund once a code is sent. Support can look at your options, but can't promise a refund.
A 30-second check before you buy
- Open the store on your account.
- Look at any price. Is it in US dollars (or the card's currency)?
- Check the region shown on the AroraShop product page.
- If both match, buy. If not, ask live chat first.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my gift card say it isn't valid in my region?
The card was made for a different country or currency than your account. Check your account country or store currency.
Can I use a USA gift card from Bangladesh?
Often yes, if your account is set to the USA or uses US dollars. Your location matters less than your account setting. Google Play is an exception: AroraShop says its US Google Play cards can't be used from Bangladesh.
Will a VPN fix a region error?
Don't try it. It breaks store rules and can risk your account.
Can I change my account country?
Sometimes, but there are limits. Google Play allows one change every 12 months, and Xbox balance doesn't move with you. Change it only if you are really moving.
Can I get a refund for a wrong-region card?
Digital codes can't be refunded after dispatch. Contact support with your order number to see what's possible.
How do I avoid this next time?
Check your store's currency and the card's region before you pay. It takes less than a minute.
Conclusion
Region errors come down to a mismatch between the card and your account setting. Check the currency in your store, match it to the card's region on AroraShop, and ask live chat whenever you're unsure. Browse gift cards on AroraShop once you know which region you need.
